I’ve still not visited, but could do so on a fuel stop back from a Euro Trip. Unsure yet

Did you go?

Didn’t go yet either…
Let’s see who’s going to be first to be ripped off ;)

Just had a little look through some images there.
It does look very nice. It’s not too far either, so I’ve added it to my list for this year.

Any recent visits? Now planning for Mid-March.

I wanted to visit end of last year. But the usual “we have no parking” etc. so on and on. A very GA friendly airport has transformed into a pain in about 7 years since I first went there. Also the fees increased from a tiny amout of a few Euros to something like 200 Euros if they would have had parking. And in the past they even had duty free JetA1 which is also gone.

I’m based at ELLX.

There is now again a (far smaller) “first come first serve” outside parking area on P5 West, only for single engine propeller planes without commercial passengers, and one has to push the aircraft in and out of it by hand (or theoretically tug; not under own power). From my reading of the airport charges document, it still costs only 1.25 EUR/t/day to use. But the only practical way to use it is to have “informal handling” by a based person or club. That person has to take your plane on their account, issue you a temporary access card and escort you in and out. Avgas refuelling with credit card out of self-serve pump, and Jet A1 refuelling not allowed for non-based planes.

A rotation (landing and take-off) costs about 30 to 50 EUR in fees for light aircraft; 7 EUR airport landing fee, 7 EUR airport takeoff fee and 15 to 35 EUR (depending on noise level, exact MTOW, etc) “Terminal Navigation Charge” billed by the agency in charge of ATC.

If you use the “normal” formal business handling, there are handling fees on top, I don’t know their amount. They could be listed at https://www.lux-airport.lu/corporate/business-partners/airport-fees-and-charges/ or just ask the business aviation centre. Don’t forget to apply for, and put in your FPL, a PPR number. The formal business handling allows refuel of both Avgas and Jet A1 for non-based planes.

In my experience, the “informal handling” system does not require a PPR number in the FPL, only a firm request on TWR frequency (there is no GND frequency) to taxi to P5 and not P2.

Before discarding this option: does Aerosport offer this at all? Anyway, not being able to get Avgas via this route would be another issue.

I’m not aware our club offering this. I also very rarely see any plane parked at the guest parking on P5. There’s one canard plane there rotting away, you can see it on google maps satellite image. But rarely anyone else.

But buying AVGAS should be no issue. The pump takes credit cards.

The good thing about such parking options is that they can not be repurposed for bigger planes ;-) Last year I was denied PPR by the GAT due to lack of parking. I did not try but in fact they should be able to handle a visitor parking there? Or are they not allowed to or do not want to?
