Greek Airports (being sold to FRAPORT in Germany) and many new problems

@boscomantico I just learned that the change of charges will indeed be the same for up to 2 tons MTOW and it will be the low price i.e. they will consider Recreational Non Commercial GA anything up to 2 tons (without the intermediate 1.2 to 2.0 tons step that is now in effect.)
LANDING CHARGE shall be 25 Euro for “0 to 2.0 tn. MTOW”
Same for PARKING fees, they shall apply for “0 to 2.0 tn. MTOW”
The timing is not specified but it was implied in a sense of “consider it done”.

@Peter since this thread is related to the Indonesia subject please transfer my above response to @boscomantico to the Fraport discussion.

Excellent, petakas, great work.

Even more so now, the problem is not so much the Fraport fees, but the handling agents and their never ending ideas to create various fees which really add up.

I guess that this thread
https://www.euroga.org/forums/flying/4369-greek-airports-being-sold-to-fraport-in-germany-and-many-new-problems
is the most appropriate for discussing Fraport fees.

@petakas: unfortunately, judging by the published price lists for 2024, it does not seem that there has been any reduction in fees for typical GA aircraft.

Indeed, I am watching that too from week to week and I see no changes. :-(

PIREP :

FRAPORT Mykonos visit report.

Aircraft : Socata TB20, 3 PoB,
Flight : VFR (Athens) Megara LGMG to Mykonos LGMK
1hr cost-sharing Aeroclub flight to leave two friends in the island and return back to Megara same day.

Since 2011, that I last flew there, the airport has had an immense upscale.
The apron has all the proper safety markings, follow me guides to parking stand etc. etc.
The Terminal Building has been seriously revamped with nice architectural features.

Safety & Security were immense, fully professional attitude by ATC & Ground personnel for an international airport that handles so much traffic in such a small apron.

Handling was done by GOLDAIR. Very polite and professional personnel.
Same for the FRAPORT employee who brought me their charges report (payed via GOLDAIR and saving some walk back&forth to Fraport’s office upstairs)
Security checks for Airside-Landside crossing were top quality.

The apron was quite busy with Airlines.
There was no light GA activity for the one hour I was there.

The charges (incl VAT where applicable) :

- GOLDAIR :
BASIC Handling with AOPA Card : 24.80€ (would be in the region of 300€ without that card)
Weekend surcharge : 2.48€
Parking Permission (PPR) : 37,20€
Passenger Apron bus : 18,60€
Admin. fee on Invoice Gross : 2.06€
Goldair total: 85.14€

- FRAPORT :
68.20€

TOTAL : 153,34€ (incl. VAT).

While we exited airside to landside (with security escort) we had a nice complimentary treat at the airports’ outdoor lounge with drinks & snacks as a welcome.

@petakas that sounds a lot better than in the past (post-2016) when it was about €400.

I wonder what they charge for parking…

Could you please do an entry on our airports database? https://airports.euroga.org/

Thank you

Parking is not possible at Mykonos, so for most typical private missions, it unfortunately is to be considered a closed airport (except for emergencies).
That said, almost everybody says that Mykonos is the least attractive and of all the the Cyclades islands, so why go there?

That same stop would have probably been 200-250€ before the Fraport were reduced somewhat in 2018. That 400€ somehow stuck to your mind, but that likely included parking, IFR, customs, more pax, or similar.

Having been there for a week I would not agree. It is lovely.

You’ve just got to keep away from places like the Ramrod Bar (where you probably need to watch your 6 o’clock carefully)

I landed there in 2004/05 and it was about 30 quid – like Corfu etc.

Yes 400 was normal for an actual trip from outside Greece, post fraport.

Peter it is not like this any more. Everything is much-much more expensive and it is targeted to a specific niche to visitors.

The true value of Mykonos are Autumn to Spring, taking the guided tour at Ancient Delos island to the east and/or a private boat ride to Rhenia uninhabited Islets east of Delos with the turquoise waters.
