Spot on. Personally, I actually end to fly more frequently (but shorter flights) in winter than in summer. In summer, there is lots of other stuff to do, or sometimes, it is just too hot go flying, and I just spend the time at the lake or so. But in winter, unless one is living near the mountains, there are usually less exciting things to do. Plus, indeed, the views are often better than in summer.
