CIME card in France - a mandatory crew certificate?

ICAO calls it a “Crew Member Certificate”;

Isn’t that the AOPA Crew Card for GA, at least mine says so, in principle?

Actually, you can go airside in French airports with ‘AOPA crew card’, I suppose that will carry around for while
Has anyone got told that they can’t after January 2023 and from now on they need ‘CIME crew card’?

With respect to SRA (ZSAR – zone de sûreté à accès réglementé), “a while” being the time for the technical procedures for CIME cards to be done, but I don’t expect more. The “AOPA Crew Card” is delivered without police / intelligence background check and is thus not a Crew Identification Card under the EU regulation.

Come one, why would AOPA France organise CIME cards for their members if their existing crew card continue to be sufficient indefinitely?

Hello,
Recently FFA started to provide the possibility to subscriptors to get a CIME card. There is a form to fill online on the FFA SMILE subscriber page.
You’ll hev to provide:
• A copy of both sides of your EASA LAPL, PPL(A), CPL(A) or ATPL(A) pilot license
• A CV summarizing your professional activity over the last five years at least (even for retired people), the studies you have followed as well as the establishments attended. This speeds up the prefectural investigation and avoids errors due to namesakes.
• A photo ID and your signature. They will necessarily appear on the CIME card. You will need to enter them (import) in the “Signature/Photos” tab of your SMILE FFA licensed driver file.
• The certificate of success in airport security training 11.2.6.2 may be sent later but the issuance of the CIME card will only be possible after receipt by the FFA of the certificate of success which you can download upon request. initial or later and the clearance that will be given by the prefecture. (list of training organizations)
• 80 euros each 3 years.

It’s a total farce and a reaction to something that doesn’t really exist. IMO it will be another reason to switch to ULM and airports where there is no airline passenger traffic. Hopefully it will not be all commercial traffic.
I am not sure what happens to the clubs based on these airfields or whether the CIME will only be needed when actual CAT aircraft is pn the ramp during loading and loading.
Pilots might be prepared to pay the €80 every 3 years but will they be prepared to spend 1/2 to 1 day doing security training.

Wait a minute …..

The relevant regulation is section 1.2.2.2 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998 of 5 November 2015 laying down detailed measures for the implementation of the common basic standards on aviation security. It requires that one of the following be required for access to a security restricted area:
a valid boarding card or equivalent; that’s what we use at ELLX for our GA passengers; we issue them a boarding card; not one printed in same format and with a QR code like an airline one, but a simple A5 form that lists PIC, airplane, date, passenger name, destination, etc that the PIC fills in by hand and signs

A valid boarding card you say……

Free boarding cards

As mentioned in separate thread, I wrote a small free app to issue boarding pass for your passengers as a proof of concept of how to use ChatGPT…

Do I see a very simple solution???!!!!!

So what is a VAILD boarding card?

Should you ask ChatGPT for that.

If this card is recognised for unescorted access to SRA at airports throughout the EU, I will be totally happy to pay €80 and attend security training, and will actually consider it an excellent deal.

@greg_mp – do you know how this will work at LFMD? Will you need a CIME card to get through the security gate?

I had to do some online security training to get my most recent badge. It took about 20 minutes. Presumably a lot more than that will be needed for CIME? (There was nothing about catering on it!).

Has anyone on here actually done the French version of the CIME training, or know anyone who has?

@Ultranomad I afraid to say I don’t think having.one will negate the other. There’s too much money in handling.these days. Where it is mandatory IMO it will remain mandatory. It might stop it becoming mandatory in some of the places it is not.🤔
