First picture, last winter December 2022.. works on the stone picking and holes patching in the middle of runway.
Second picture, one of the several runway intrusions during the day an night while the CCTV was active.
The CCTV is not there any more, since 1st of May 2023.
The City projects are pending…

RV14 here, was looking to visit the LDSH in winter time.
This winter no one doing FOD check and stone picking.
Visit is not recommended.

BTW Have the whole collection, kids jumping on plane’s wings & flaps, vehicles circling,
hunters with dogs, all including the vehicle reg. plates and people faces, if you like to see more…

Well, I had some thought about a visit in Spring or Fall, but that sure doesn’t sound too inviting… unless one pitches one’s tent right next to the airplane?

Even that tent can not be enough….

Here event from Spring 2023. which finished with happy end…
Just guess what may be the outcome without ground crew present?!

All times Local time CET
14:55
During routine runway FOD inspection, ground crew noticed a large unmanned aircraft flying over the runway, direction north to south perpendicular to the direction of the runway, at an estimate altitude of 150ft AGL.

A call was immediately made to local air traffic control authority “Split Radar”. They reported back that no unmanned aircraft is scheduled for flying over LDSH and no NOTAM has been issued, immediately making the unmanned flight illegal. In addition Split Radar reported that LSA aircraft is inbound for landing on LDSH in estimated 25 min time frame. The stated LSA aircraft has submitted a correct flight plan, however LDSH operator was not notified via PPR of his arrival.

15:04
Following the conversation with Split Radar a call was immediately made to 112 emergency number who redirected the call to local Hvar police station (PU Hvar). The police reported that they’ll immediately send a patrol vehicle to the scene.

15:13
In the mean time the drone operator was located some 150m west of the airport parked to the side of the road. By the time we reached the drone operator he has landed his unmanned vehicle. We noted down his car registration before approaching him.

The drone operator identified himself as N.N We proceeded to ask him ask him why he didn’t issue a NOTAM and if Croatia Civil Aviation Authority has given him their approval for overflying of uncontrolled LDSH airport. He stated that the process for NOTAM issuing took too long and that he called someone in CCAA and that they informed him that he is free to fly over the airport at his discretion because the airport is closed. That in fact is a completely wrong information. LDSH is open for general aviation on request and open 24/7 for emergency operations, including secondary medical helicopter transport performed by Croatian Airforce which regularly operates on LDSH.

Drone operator was informed to come with us to the LDSH operator office to wait for the arrival of police and in the mean time LDSH Hvar Radio frequency was monitored for the blind call of the arriving LSA aircraft.

15:27
LSA Aircraft made a blind call 5 min before coming overhead LDSH airport from western direction. We established radio communication with him and informed him that runway is free of obstacles and that he’s is to land at his discretion.

15:32
After landing D-XXXX reported that Split Radar informed him of unauthorized unmanned aircraft flight over LDSH airport.

15:51
Police arrived and detained the drone operator to gather information.

Sounds like you ought to have called out the Yugoslav Air Force to sort out these hooligans. I know where a load of them are parked

Things sound a lot more exciting at LDSH today compared to the situation at my visit in 2019.
