EuroGA Airports Database

I’ve just done LFGE

EGHO-LFQF-KCLW, United Kingdom

The moment of truth will be tomorrow 3am

It worked

It took some style fixes, which have just been done.

Basically the digest works just like on the search page of the database, with the camera icon if pics are present in a report.

Looks good @Peter

399 reports now.

Sadly no t-shirts left (except XXL) so the prize options to whoever does #400 are limited

Well, somebody hit the #400 but i don’t know who

We now have Croatia and Austria VFR AIP on the “AIP” button. Not really sure of other great candidates – any suggestions?

Funnily enough Austria has everything on just one PDF – example – so whichever of the VFR-only airports (LOAA LOAB LOAD etc) you click on you get the same PDF.

And, no, you can’t have Jeppesen VFR Europe That would need a Donate button the size of the client device; it must be €500/year or so.

Great to see reports for Bolzano and Belluno.

Oxford (EGTK), United Kingdom

There was a “little problem” with the auto updates to the forum thread but it’s sorted now

Yes, Bolzano is a spectacular arrival. I will do it this winter (for Madonna) if it is possible CV19-wise.

We have national AIPs (ones not in EAD) now for Croatia and Austria. Nobody has requested anything else so far.

We now have aerodrome notams from EAD itself.

The query uses a 365 day time span so it should get everything. Nobody has as yet volunteered to test this, however.

If EAD returns nothing, we query NOAA. So this system works for both European and non-European airports.

There is some strange stuff in that Eurocontrol does deliver notams for some bigger US airports e.g. KPHX (Phoenix) but – predictably – not for the smaller ones like KCHD. So for KPHX you get notams from EAD but for KCHD you get them from NOAA.

Together with this, this has been an interesting exercise, demonstrating the pitfalls with notam briefings. Basically, most briefing websites do not tell you what time span they use for the query. Some use 24hrs, some use a bit more, some use 5 days, etc… All the different periods should work if you always get notams on the day of the flight with the key proviso that most free websites won’t be getting them from Eurocontrol but from NOAA in the US and a lot of European notams are not distributed (by the country in question) to the US.
