In Austria, 2 states have imposed a full lockdown for everyone from Monday: Oberoesterreich and Salzburg. It is expected that others may follow.
Travel to these places therefore makes little or no sense.
What are the requirements applicable to GA?
Or are they locking people up at home? For example this is not exactly clear.
This has the potential to wipe out the Austrian ski business (again) unless they get organised.
Italy is still OK. Just been checking it for the meet-up next week. They need the EU PLF# but that doesn’t work (for a signup) with Chrome. Can anyone believe that? Just sends you around in circles. Had to use Firefox. Plus they need a test, apparently.
would like to keep (schengen) borders open as long as possible (especially for winter tourism and english folks tumbling down our skiing slopes).
The UK is non schengen, so is Austria doing different things for schengen and non schengen visitors?

Is there a special concession for schengen visitors to Austria?
I don’t think you need to have concessions or restrictions on Schengen. The point is, and that is why I posted this information here, that Salzburg and Oberösterreich have decided to basically go back to full lockdown conditions. The ruling that you only are allowed to leave home for “important business” for the lack of a better translation imho precludes any pleasure visits by GA. Business travel should be ok, but again, you will be up against a fully locked down infrastructure.
well, locked down does not mean “dead” infrastructure.
but anyway, it is not advisable (and for sure not comfortable at all) to visit parts of austria, that are in covid lockdown.
Things are changing rapidly due to the new strain:
Admittedly CH banned Brits from entry last winter, while it remained open for skiing to everyone else. So it will be interesting to watch developments on the travelling front.
Same goes for a rapidly growing list of countries. List valid currently:
Belgium
Botswana
Czech Republic
Egypt
Eswatini
Hong Kong
Israel
Lesotho
Malawi
Mozambique
Namibia
Netherlands
South Africa
United Kingdom
Zimbabwe
Expect more to join that list on Monday.
The UK has also changed their rules, but generally for all countries:
- After entry, every person entering the UK needs to quarantine.
- After two days, a PCR test has to be done.
- Quarantine ends upon receipt of the result of a negative test.

Is that for entry to Switzerland?
