Corona / Covid-19 virus - airport and flying restrictions, and licensing / medical issues

Great news thanks (I heard of people being told to stay away when they called LTQ until recently but I found a chap on Facebook who went there no problem at all yesterday). My weekend trip is on it seems :)

LeTouquet was AutoInformation = FR only with no ATC the whole middle of the day yesterday but still had load few UK visitors, maybe related to this FR-only madness? Although, I never heard any “stay away” but rather a “reminder FR only” and generally LFAT & LFAC are very accomodating on this topic and do not enforce it (Lille FIS at least does not make a fuss about it)

But I would be careful going to FR-only airfields down south as it would be a problem, especially those with gliders, military or microlight as they get very sensitive…

Tours LFOT is mostly managed by Edeis now on weekends (not Air Force Base 705 which is the wrong email adress in few guides including the AIP), watch out for Rafale cable arrestors on 20 runway

It is based on this NOTAM. See the item C at the end of the NOTAM.

B) 06 JUL 2020 06:57 C)16 AUG 2020 23:59
E) COVID-19: RESTRICTIONS AS PRESCRIBED BY THE SWISS FEDERAL COUNCIL, ENTRY INTO SWITZERLAND IS REFUSED TO ALL FOREIGN NATIONALS WHO WISH TO ENTER SWITZERLAND DIRECTLY FM ANY COUNTRY OUTSIDE SCHENGEN AREA. EXCEPTIONS: A) NATIONALS OR RESIDENTS OF SWITZERLAND OR LIECHTENSTEIN. B) PERSONS WHO HOLD A CROSS-BORDER COMMUTER PERMIT, A C-VISA ISSUED BY SWITZERLAND FOR THE PURPOSE OF ‘BUSINESS MEETING’ AS SPECIALISTS IN THE FIELD OF HEALTH OR ‘OFFICIAL VISIT’ OF GREAT IMPORTANCE, A D-VISA ISSUED BY SWITZERLAND OR AN ASSURANCE OF A RESIDENT PERMIT. C) PERSONS WHO ARE ENTITLED TO FREEDOM OF MOV (E.G. CITIZENS OF EU/EFTA STATES AND OTHER PERSONS, LIKE THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, DERIVING RIGHTS FM THE ACT ON THE FREE MOV OF PERSONS).

Also, I have been in direct contact with the border police at Sion Airport and he confirms that only CITIZENS, not residents, of EU/EFTA states may enter.

The item that Rwy20 refers to applies to Swiss citizens and residents I believe, imposing on them a quarantine requirement if they have been in a high risk country.

OK seems like Switzerland is just applying some Schengen area rules here, and the gotcha is that UK is not in Schengen. I also read something in the newspaper about Australians on flights from the UK being denied entry, and the ensuing discussion if SWISS should have verified their legal status before boarding.

This is pretty nonsensical to deny entry based on nationality, but none of these regulations has actually ever been proportionate and fully logical so far.

Edit: When did you get this information? According to this, local copy the restrictions for third state nationalities have been lifted on July 6 (“Per 6. Juli 2020 hat der Bundesrat die Zulassungseinschränkungen für bewilligungspflichtige Aufenthalte für Erwerbstätige und Nichterwerbstätige aus Drittstaaten aufgehoben.”), which reads to me like you could now enter Switzerland.

I thought non-citizen residents of a Schengen country have freedom of movement in the Schengen area?

I think so too, but the UK is not part of the Schengen area.

As a warning, Austria has imposed guaranty for people entering Austria from Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania.

@NealCS posts moved to existing “restrictions” thread.

Someone at Shoreham asked me today whether he can fly to Le Touquet… so I told him the answer appears to be Yes, but only after 10th July although England is doing nothing to implement the quarantine anyway.

I am keen to pop down there again ASAP but will not do any indoor stuff. Eating in a restaurant is OK for me but only if sitting outdoors and spaced away from others.

I’ve just got back from Krk (Rijeka DRI) and they take hygiene very seriously there. Nearly all airport and hotel employees wear masks. Restaurant tables were all outdoors and spaced out. Having said that, 99% of tourists were locals and they have low infection rates (I would not have gone there otherwise), with just a very few Germans and no Brits. Well, the first Ryanair from Stanstead, with 150 of them, landed 1hr after me The locals are quite worried. I got a haircut there…

Caen is 24hr PNR anyway for customs/immigration now – been like it for quite a while. The days of a €4.80 cost and a quick stop to fly to small French airfields are long gone.

The Caen PPR24H was for a flight from Calais to Caen, no custums are required, I did read that Notams on the same day while in Calais, called/emailed airport no answer and decided to fly anyway, cost for a landing & 1h park was 10€

Yes it would have been different attitude coming from UK directly that way

I never asked for PPR or email/call unless I need fuel or overnight parking while in France

You can fly to France no problem since 15th June, the quarantine issue is tit-for-tat due the UK restrictions and “voluntary” for Brits. Aerodromes are open. Restaurants and Hotels open with distance measures in place, shops open with masks to be worn. Museums should be open this week too. The only issue is that you need to wait until 10th July before returning to the UK as quarantine rules apply until then in the UK.

Regards, SD..
