Very interresting instrument, as backup but also as an AoA indicator. There no better tool for keeping 1.3Vs…

What was the saying? Great minds think alike or something to that effect ;)

Funnily enough, the AV-20S replaced a GT-50 I had on the panel… yes, it needs a leak test on both S & P. I did not install the audio since it’s use is mainly as a back-up ADI.

It is delivered with two 1/4″ quick connect fittings. Since my whole S & P system uses those, it was just a matter of installing 2 manifolds, and push the cut to length 1/4 hoses into the fittings. If your aircraft, like most certifieds, still uses the old fashion screw on plastic type, or even worse solid lines, you’ll need new fittings.

That’s a neat little instrument! I am tempted to replace my current 2.25" GT-50 clock/G-meter…it is however not plug and play and needs a pitot static leak check after install, as well as running the wiring to the audio panel if you want full functionality (I particularly like the audio bit).
Is the pitot/static hose inserted directly without any connectors?

If you are still looking for TB10s, here is a cheap and decent looking one.
Looks very good to me! I would think this could be a good entry level machine.
I see it´s on G-reg, which is probably ideal for the OP.

Just surfing the thread drift
Had the same redundancy concerns on my steed, as I already had a surprising experience with my first G5. Adding a second one, though both are backup battery equipped, did not fulfill my criteria, and the reason I installed the AV-20S.
Also battery equipped, different manufacturer. The downside is a diminutive size, and an ADI function only (on top of timers, AOA, etc). But it could be one’s last card to play…

Another thing in the case of an emergency is you can install this app called “CockpitAid” if you have an Android phone and it basically creates an AI using your phone’s electronic gyro. At least you’ve got something extra to go on worse comes to worst.
Just another AI is sufficient. There’s plenty of them for less than 3000€, you can even get an uncertified.

Thanks for that pointer. Looks cool, need to try it on an airplane.

Yes, but you need to:
- Install software
- Practice using
- Have it at hand
- Remember (!) to use it in case of emergency. :)
