Hello,
I plan to fly to Roma, and would prefer LIRU (Roma Urbe) as it seems to be more GA friendly.
They seem to have Avgas, and do not request handling nor PPR.
I emailed them… But they didn’t answer.
Does anyone has a recent experience with them ?
Alexandre.
Emailing does usually not work in Italy. Need to call in order to get information.
I found that adding an Italian translation (google is good enough) produces the required magic
Works for Spain, France, Italy. Elsewhere I have been to, they speak English, at airports.
I go to LIRU often and is really GA friendly, don’t worry. And incredibly close to the center of Rome (but you need a taxi).
Or two bromptons ! :-)
I will try to give them a call tomorrow.
Thank you all !
I finally got someone over the phone at this number: +39 06 88343022
Very nice person, English was not a problem.
He gave me the main instructions for arrival and parking.
Easy flight. The only point was that Roma Control tried to get rid of me from ELB, asking several times I cancel IFR, preferring a north vfr routing via TAQ.
LIRU is only 7km North of Roma, but first part of the road was some kind of highway: much more dangerous than the flight !! (by bike !)
100LL available at 2,70€/l with quick delivery.
Landing, 24h parking and one pax: ca. 50€
Departure with a Z flight plan. VFR northbound to Prima Porta then CMP, and the IFR clearance was delivered when airborne, few minutes after takeoff.
A few picts (and french comment)
