Switzerland to Lisbon, Looking for Fuel Stop w/Customs and Lisbon Airport Recommendation

The stop at Tarbes worked like a charm. Landing fee around 22 eur and fuel for 2.3 eur per liter. Little bit of a ghost air field, lots of airliners parked there for some reason.

I had up to 69kts headwinds. Also, cascais had ovc below 500ft and the IFR approach minimum is above 500ft.
This and the fact that I was running low on fuel due to strong headwinds led me to divert to evora. Took the train to Lisbon, worked quite well actually.

Apparently, LPSO Ponte de sor is a good diversion airfield as well, they even have an ils.

For Lisboa,Cascais is the best airfields.I could have a place in an hangar. There is a friendly handling, hotels not far and train to go to Lisboa. The arrival corridor is gorgeous.
Don’t forget your camera,it is so beautiful and depending the runway in use,you may say hello to people on their terrasses on final.
Unforgetable experience.
I stopped in Valladolid and overnight there.Empty airport, with a lot of cabs at the airport, but no flights arriving .City not far,but petrol expensive like everywhere in Spain.
If you want petrol in France, take Mimizan in consideration. No or low landing fees and petrol.Look firdt their VAC for petrol availability LFCZ
Have a nice trip

Hi

You also have LPSR (Santarem). Takes you 45 min train trip to arrive to Lisbon.

LPSR, Portugal

Sure @NeilC? It used to be either BP card for self service at the fixed fuel station OR with service from the staff, with payment by credit card or even cash. That‘s also what their AIP still says.

Mainz (EDFZ) & Egelsbach (EDFE), Germany

Pau needs a BP card

thanks for the input, I ended up planning the fuel stop at LFBT Tarbes (ALTN LFBZ Biarritz and LFBP Pau) and the destination LPCS Cascais (ALTN LEVD Valladolid and LPEV Evora).

Lots of bad weather in Spain and Portugal, and westerly headwinds tomorrow, will cost me ~1.5h. Oh well.

I wholeheartedly love Spain but for this trip I would opt for one of the French suggestions (range allowing, of course).

LFMU as fuel stop (a lot cheaper than Spain) and LPCS for Lisabon.

My vote is for Tarbes as well. Their new self service fuel station (operated by World Fuel) is now finished. This is what they sent out on Sep 27:

Next time you visit the Tarbes Lourdes Pyrénées area, refuel using our new self-serve Avgas and Jet A1 facilities, whether you’re visiting the airport or as a tech stop.

At our self-serve payment terminal, we accept World Fuel Contract, AVCARD® by World Fuel, as well as Mastercard and Visa.

Our new facilities are available 24/7 to fit in with your schedule and conveniently located on the GA ramp. Stop by the new self-serve units, refuel and be back in the air in no time at all.
