Landing a plane in 27m

There’s a version of that video with a narrator who dryly says something like “Due to a number of factors, the rockets fired prematurely leading to an excessively hard landing”, which seemed like a wonderful understatement when the video is showing the wings breaking off and the aircraft bursting into flames.

Next they can try the C130 but that solution needs a little upgrade to the wing structure:

An interesting modification to the POH: landing distance at 0 MSL yadda yadda: 16 feet*. At bottom of page: * – if there is a substantial building in the right place.

not the smoothest landing

Well, sort of :-)) He crashed into the building!! But that were other times… By the way, he didn’t use much of the runway, he came in way too high. The guys from RB would have used the nitro booster to perform another approach…

The previous rooftops record holder was 28m, 100 years ago, not the smoothest landing, but he was wearing a scarf !

The video shows a lot of action even with 1FPS quality

Mike Patey’s video here shows how they modified the plane for the stunt. Really impressive and ingenious, from using titanium wherever they could, to relocating and modifying the fuel tanks, giving it some nitro for extra power and adding a skid pad to prevent tail damage if they hit the edge of the helipad.

From the outside it looks like just another RedBull crazy stunt, but they put a lot of thought and effort in the process to make sure it goes well.

Actually he stalled the left wing on that attempt, look at ailerons down. Good reaction to not retract the flaps at this moment.

Still, I’m sure it wasn’t that easy, judging one’s height above the platform with little peripheral reference (unless some kind of guidance system was used…)

There are videos of his failed practice attempts (you have to see the look on his face when he falls after bouncing)

This is cool, no one harmed, may be even entertaining. So it’s like a commercial for GA, but seemingly without negative effect. Appreciated by my side :-)

Landing backwards?
