Anyone any experience with this field? Planning on going there on Saturday – back out on Sunday on an IFR flight plan. Anything to look out for? GA friendly?
thanks,
Wim
It is GA friendly. The authorities come out to you and take you to the terminal, where there is a pleasant enough restaurant.
If you’re after IFR there’s not many alternatives. Also I have never flown into EBOS so I cannot really comment. Still, I’d recommend considering Kortrijk EBKT: less expensive, more club-like, classy restaurant “Biggles” on site.
Also, I vaguely recall the resto at EBOS is presently closed for refurbishing, check twice!
They seem to have very cheap JetA1 for private use. With the right fueld card apparently even cheaper than Luxembourg. Another alternative would be EBAW. Very GA friendly and very reasonable landing fees but JetA1 40% more expensive than EBOS.

Only if you arrive from outside Schengen. If intra-Schengen you can walk to the gate. Remember to bring fluorescent jackets.
You’ll be marshalled to a parking stand. On your way back to the airplane you will be “escorted” to the office to pay the tax.
Excellent, thanks everyone.
Did EBOS over the weekend. Arrived from intra-schengen. No handling but still got picked up and checked by a security guard (as you need to enter the wider passenger terminal.
Fuel was quick to arrive and service was great. Overall great airfield – parking and landing fee 65Euros. ATC made me work for it on landing keeping me at FL080 until 2 minutes before intercepting the localiser. (I’m afraid we’re going to have to take you through the localiser he said :-) Otherwise uneventful – rain prior to departure on Monday morning gave the plane a bit of wash which was great :-)
I’m thinking of popping over to EBOS today.
Anyone had a recent experience? No rip off charges, etc?
Rip-off no, but as with all Belgian airports, the passenger fees are high. If you have three of them, the costs at Ostende can top 100€, whereas, if you are alone, it’s more in the 40€ ballpark.
