We bought an early Siai Marchetti SF260

Super interesting. Who pays for this? Will it be a „group plane“ or is it contract work for an owner?

It is not a group plane. It is not contract work. Let’s call it a fun (meaningful) way to pass time when civil aviation is mostly dead ;-)
That being said, it will probably be listed when I’ve put it through its paces come fall. Start saving your pennies, it will not be cheap ;-)

We have a Marchetti with a turboprop as a regular visitor. Might add some additional fun to your project

Pardon the lack of progress and updates. Actual work (ie. money in, not out), flight instructing and building a new home has stolen precious time, so unfortunately ms. Italia has been neglected.
We have gotten a few bits and pieces sorted; inside of fuselage is mostly primed, engine mount magnafluxed and new Form1, avionics shelf (for the magnetometers) has been fabricated and the engine and prop came in. Next week, unless anything (less) important pops up will see the fuselage alodined and primed.

Hopefully a more exciting update next week!

@NorFlyer the quality of the fuselage is excellent, perhaps your next project should be a P-51 :)

Thanks. The hangar and airport is nice. When covid is over I’ll invite you guys to fly in ;-)
A P-51 is one of those holy grail aircraft, and still possible to find projects for “reasonable” money, unlike the spit. That being said, the sheer size and complexity of it would probably triple the manhours (and $) vs this project. Being that I’m roughly 30 years from retirement it will have to wait ;-)

Looking back, I think my ‘peak production’ age was about 30 years from typical retirement age, say age 35. Having “moved on” a bit from that I find I get only maybe 3/4 as much done… but in half the time and effort. There are some advantages to getting older, so you might find your P-51 retirement project is only 2 times the hours versus 3 times the hours

I’ve never thought about going to Norway, most of my trips are within 300 km of the Alps or so. Seeing your Marchetti when finished would be a fine excuse… although I’d be unlikely to be able to fly in!

Great work!

You should. It is a very beautiful country with very friendly people. I´ve very much liked my visits there and have very fond memories of the places I´ve been to.
