Ajaccio LFKJ and Figari LFKF

10 Posts

Information about these two airports is available via one web site http://www.2a.cci.fr/aeroports/ probably one of the worst web sites related to airports. Exactly zero information available on general aviation and site in English for Ajaccio is non-existent while for Figari is almost the same as in French except few words translated to English.

Ajaccio is French:

And Ajaccio in English:

LDZA LDVA, Croatia

I was planing a flight to Ajaccio earlier this year and they have 48 hours PPR. I wrote them an email (in French, might not have been perfect but good enough to understand what I am asking). Never heard back from them.

Emir,

I have never looked much at the website of airline airports in order to retrieve information relevant for GA, as it’s usually frustrating.

There are some exceptions (where airport websites have a dedicated section “general aviation”), but that’s the exception rather than the rule.

What information are you missing from AIP/NOTAM etc.?

Here is all the GA information about Ajaccio I could find on that website: http://www.2a.cci.fr/general_aviation_and_business_aviation_ajaccio_airport.html. Not very useful indeed.

To my knowledge, both Ajaccio and Figari are we’ll described in their VAC, with contact details. Did you check these ?

Pricing should be public information according to all European laws and it should be available at web site.

LDZA LDVA, Croatia

Sure, but when is the last time you got comprehensive pricing information for GA (not just an incomprehensible price list) at the website of an airline airport?

As stated before, the only real way to get an idea of pricing is to ask other pilots that have been recently. This works well for airports where GA pilots go frequently. In this specific case, there are no bad surprises, expect ~50 Euros at both of them for a landing and a night’s parking.

The bigger problem (as pretty much everywhere else in southern Europe in summertime) is getting permission for parking. Most of the Corsican airports now have some sort of PPR requirement, and I have recently heard that Calvi has gone real crazy with that (even for the famous turf parking area!). It’s a well spread desease by now. Even Croatia (not only Split!) has been affected…

I know it’s not always but I wouldn’t say it’s more exception than rule.

http://www.berlin-airport.de/en/business-partners/airlines-and-handling/charges/airport-charges/index.php

I could list more; these are just few that came to my mind. I don’t expect to get exact price but I expect this information to be public to get the feeling whether it’s a 50€ airport, or 100€ or 400€.

Unfortunately, I noticed Zadar LDZA and Pula LDPL have introduced some PPR and even Brac LDSB has PPR for Saturdays.

LDZA LDVA, Croatia

Yes. And as I read it, Brac is now ALWAYS PPR for parking (with a negligible leadtime of 48 hours…), not only on Saturdays. But the (English) NOTAM is poorly worded, so it’s hard to make exact sense out of it.

Re those price lists, as I said, in most cases, it will be totally impossible to work out a realistic real-world invoice total from these. So I stand by my point that the only way is to crosscheck with other pepople’s recent experiences.

Mainz (EDFZ) & Egelsbach (EDFE), Germany

Brac LDSB PPR requirement just confirmed Saturday only.

DUE TO LACK OF PARKING POSITIONS, 48HR PPR TO PPR(A)AIRPORT-BRAC.HR
IS MANDATORY FOR SHORT AND H24 PARKING AND LANDING ON SATURDAYS.
: NOTAM LD/B0461/18

However you can contact them later; apparently it usually is ok’d. The 48hrs isn’t a hard limit PPR like it is at certain (many many) places for e.g. police PNR etc.
