Tailwind 1/3 of gfs forecast. Only on the w-e leg we got 20-30 kt. Landed with 28.5 USG.
Disagree on cloud tops over Alps if doing the direct route from uk. Tops FL200+.
But probably would have been possible if with less than good options for IMC flight due to convective wx.
Nice flight and a great location
Understand your are landing one by one – good stuff.
N2136E reached EDTY yesterday, but my VFR route today was going to be round via Linz, Graz and Ljubljana.
Didn’t like the forcast CB’s, TS etc, so staying EDTY for another night.
I’ve got a feeling I could have made it, but the though of stuff like that and all the high ground below kept me on the ground.
Ljubljana Met Man said TS’s gone tomorrow, but rain in it’s place !!!
Looking for a 0930 local (0730 UTC) departure tomorrow if Wx looks better.
Would appreciate any weather views from anybody for my round the lower Austrian Alps routing.
e-mail or better still text before the days out – Peter has my mobile number.

I’m coming tomorrow from LDZA, not sure about timing or route :)
Yes thank you – it was a great flight
Here’s a few pics:
Shoreham this morning
This stuff didn’t look bad but with -4C inside we collected about 1mm of ice on the way up
Over France it became broken in places
but we saw plenty of strikes on the stormscope coming out of the stuff below us. The Alps:
This is possibly the Vercours area
This formation is amazing
Nice gave us a 090 heading – we were only at FL130 and they normally want FL150
A deep river
This place is well known (Ventimiglia?) – flew down there at ~1000ft on the Lucca trip in Nov 2014
Another one further along the Italian coast
Padova Radar wanted us to climb from FL130 to FL140 from here, all the way to ROTAR which was the airspace boundary with Slovenia – obviously pointless
In the descent now and doing a nice ground speed
Buildups north of LJPZ – probably FL200-250 tops
Nearly there
Visual approach to LJPZ, left hand downwind
Turning left base, tight…
Final for LJPZ
You don’t get this in many places
The “terminal”
Parked on a hard surface, which was nice
Filed and actual (in black) route
SteveR arrived in his Commander and helped us two through the difficult task ahead
We are looking forward to seeing the rest tomorrow
Planned and actual pretty much concided today…
