Pay for Fuel with Cash in Denmark?

Yeah, I had that as well. It felt strange, but it will all be okay.

At many places in Germany it is impossible to pay other than cash.
Yes, Germany is walking way behind European (digitalization) standards. Some Germans are still afraid of using debit or credit cards. The old German saying “Nur Bares ist Wares!” (only cash is real) seems to be a religious dogma among half of the citizens.

Nonetheless, I’ve never seen any fuel station in Germany, neither on an airfield nor along a road, where cards weren’t accepted. Well, except for maybe some grassstrips or so, where fuel is only inofficially available. Some old payment terminals might only accept the national German girocard (“EC-Karte”), but never encountered that on any airfield.

German restaurants and similar, at least around here, like to cheat on taxes and that is so much easier with cash ;-)

Drifting off topic now, we can consider my question closed. I will save the Kroners for a round of drinks at a Denmark meet-up.

Good plan – though you might also struggle to find a bar willing to take cash 🙂

Handling cash is a major hassle that many business owners really like to avoid
