Ok, thank your very much. Maybe my question could revive Peter´s last post from 2014 about “Firewall sound insulation”. Has anybody in the meantime a new recommendation for a more durable solution/product?
The Socata foam disintegrates from the middle. The layer with the self-adhesive glue stays attached, and the outside layer (the piece in the OP’s photo) stays mostly in one piece and falls off after the middle material disintegrates.
You don’t need mice (or other exotic animals) to do this. It happens over years, especially in areas where there is strong airflow, which happens especially behind the oil cooler.
And I thought you made a typo for ‘Martian’ activity….. would be much more interesting !!
This looks like the rubbish quality Socata firewall foam
Coming into the hangar this morning I found this piece of isolation under the front gear bay of my TB20. Anybody on the forum who´s familiar where this piece of isolation could be from? Did you ever have a problem owith a marten or mice and a recommendation after discovering this?
