8.33 kHz replacement for KX170

Hello,

I’m looking at buying an aircraft which is solid, but which has antique avionics.

Does anyone know whether there is such a thing as an 8.33 KHz ‘slide in’ replacement for a KX170?

Thank you! :)

In a word, no! I have a Michel MX-170C, which is a 25 Khz slide-in, and a far better radio than the 430 that I’m now relying on for 8.33. Michel did announce a plan for an 8.33 version but so far as I know it’s never materialised. Michel have a mixed reputation but I’ve had no problem with 15 yrs of the MX-170C.

Even if a slide in KX170 was available the age of the electrical cables and connectors is likely to result in an unreliable system.

For long term reliability replacement of the whole system would be the most economic course of action.
