Looking for an exhaust pipe TB20 / TB21

Looking for exhaust pipe at reasonable price. Any advice? (BTW: when I look at the prices of Socata parts I’m thinking about Cirrus… ;))

Talk to Gomolzig in Germany they can fix most of it. Exhaust pipes is there speciality. I hope your turbo transition piece is still ok because this one will be more than USD 6’000 from Lycoming and you only get it there.

LSZH

“exhaust pipe”? The TB20 exhaust comprises of about 7 pieces

and the TB21 will have even more.

If you need a complete exhaust system, the cheapest way is to get yours re-manufactured by one of the US specialists e.g. Acorn Welding. They don’t have a PMA or STC for it and get around this by re-using some tiny part of your old one and making a complete new exhaust around that.

The TB GT aircraft has an inconel exhaust system (the pic above) which seems to last “for ever”. You can get one made in inconel too but it will cost more because the stuff is not popular with exhaust repair shops.

Thomas, you should not mess around with cheap exhausts….when I had a Bonanza 36, at the time the original exhaust was maybe 16 years old, it blew a hole right through the side, (I didnt know it at the time) crossing the channel I thought, as the engine sounded a bit rough, that the best thing to do was climb as high as theTMA would allow, it was only after landing that I could see the black soot around the side of the aircraft….further inspection showed that the exhaust was discharging right onto the fuel line, so altitude would not have been the best thing at the time.

I had just (50 hours) fitted a new engine and cannot understand why the engineer who fitted the engine didnt suggest fittting a new exhaust at the time…cost was not a factor.
Exhaust’s dont last forever!

Speak to RGV in Gloucester. They have a lot of TB spares.

When Air Touring went bust, somebody bought their stock. That stock was touted around for years. It was once owned by a wealthy guy living on the Isle of Man. At least 2 times I was sent a spreadsheet listing but wasn’t that interested because it was just a P/N list with no descriptions and a sample check showed it to be mostly oddball parts with no value. A couple of years ago it changed hands again, and curiously they were trying to offload it too (I was contacted again ).

But I would be surprised if there were complete exhausts there, because such pricey items would not normally be stocked by the dealer. Also Air Touring, certainly in their final years, were in a state of war with Socata, mainly AFAIK over disputed warranty work payments.

But then Thomas has not been back so we have no idea what “exhaust pipe” is. I suspect it is a complete exhaust and I would go to the USA for that; they have all the dimensions etc and their pricing is normally way lower than Europe.

I would send it to the Gomolzig company in Germany. They do it perfectly and quick.

Thank you all! So far I’m looking just for a pipe, 60 cm pipe, not the whole exchaust. I’m not looking for sometching “cheap”, but Socata is offering me 4200 eur pipe.

Do you have the old part? If so then send it to Gomolzig. You’ll have it back soon.
