How can one detect a broken piston ring (high oil consumption)?

MP… I would have to dig around for pics. It will be whatever it is at FL210, minus a bit for the engine suction. Max power i.e. 150F ROP. Max revs too, 2575.

According to this, about 112HP i.e. 44% of max power.

Where on earth did you get a performance chart for a NA engine to FL240 ? Mine stops at FL120 and its an IO 550!

KHTO, LHTL

In 2015 I did Sweden (FL210 for a bit) and Slovenia-Croatia-Greece-Corsica (also FL210 for a bit) back to back.

If the theory is correct, then it must take a few flights to clear it after a high altitude one. The Slovenia-Croatia flight was done low level, so obviously more than that is needed.

Yes, and the flight data I posted shows that one flight didn’t do it. It needed two, by the looks of it…

None of this is a proof, but it does look credible.

From the Lyco engine operating manual.

I did not get that. What does it mean?

LFPT, LFPN

Cont = Continental Engines (the company)

Short change =

1. to give less than correct change to
2. to treat unfairly or dishonestly, especially by giving less than is deserved or expected

As used in (2) its an idiomatic expression

Not at all – you don’t have the relevant Operating Manual for your Conti ?

FAA A&P/IA
LFPN

What I got is the only thing they gave with the STC. Do you have the operating manual?

KHTO, LHTL

It should be on the mfg’s website.
