UK CAA Changes

One practical improvement at the CAA:

Today I went to the public counter at Gatwick to have a rating added to my licence.
Arriving 30 minutes before they started I found I was number 14.
Based on previous visits, that would have meant handing over my documents and being told to come back in 7 hours!

But now they have four booths dealing with applications face to face, which makes it far easier to deal with “imperfections” in the form filling, and it means you can show original documents if there is an issue with the certified copies.
I was out of there 90 minutes after they opened.

One practical improvement at the CAA:

Still not as good as the days when a man with a big handlebar moustache shook you by the hand and gave you your pilots licence. We didn’t realise how good the 70s were!
