Flying in Poland VFR and IFR

That’s a very good cause

It would be very interesting to hear afterwards how you got on.

Another delivery project to Ukraine

Flying IFR in Poland was easy, and the flight was issue free the entire time. We spent 8.5 hrs @FL100 and I wish had taken my mountain high device with me, but that’s got nothing to do with the country ;). Flight time from EDLN to EPRZ was 4hrs, back 4.5 hrs, and I chose to fly IFR the whole time to make it easy.

We delivered medical goods, ca 150kg, for a specific hospital in UA, and took back with us a challenged boy with his companion who just days before survived Russian artillery. Overall a very successful mission. Thanks also to https://www.ukraine-air-rescue.de/

On arrival in Rzeszow we needed a steep descent, but with gear down no problem. There are patriot systems ready to fire, direction East, along the runway.

I’m planing a IFR Flight from Berlin to Lublin, EPLB. It seems impossible below FL100 because autorouter want to have a STAR and all STARS starts at FL100 upwards. Does anybody has an advice for me, how I can handle it below FL100?

Two options:

1. File FL100 and request lower than that if it turns out necessary. Just be aware that you will then be m in uncontrolled airspace in Poland most of the way.

2. Accept a filed flight rule change (for example, at the end file DCT IXOGA VFR) but still request the instrument approach at Lublin to ATC there.

I guess that both should work fine.

Thanks for reply. I already considered this options. Was hoping there might be a better way.
Polish ATC also seems to be quite generous, with directs, when I look routing in Flightradar.

Sure. Much like in the Nordics and the Baltics, there is nothing going on in the Polish airspace below FL200, except for some military activity here and there. Therefore Polish ATC has no reason to not be very accomodating to GA flights.

Add a climb at the STAR point. POINT/N0XXXF100. That’s what we did during IR training, IIRC.

Direct at the STAR point it doesn’t work. I took now one way point more south (6nm) wich is connected via the airway M857, did the climb designator there and so the routing was the first time accepted. Thanks for your help!

You’re welcome. Don’t stress about the climb. ATC will not expect you to execute.
