Hi Everyone,
I have a flight to LOAN (WIENER NEUSTADT) next week and need some advice from fellow aviator that have flown to this airport.
If it is ok I will ask som questions:
- Is there approach plates to this airport? (I cant find anything on the Austrian CAA website)
- Do they have a controlled tower? (I will be landing on Sunday)
- What about customs? I will be flying from another EU country to LOAN.
The reason I will be flying there is to upgrade my DA42 (TKS system to FIKI).
Any info is really appreciated.
thanks
You can find the plates at Jeppesen or at https://www.ead.eurocontrol.int
They have tower and AFAIK it works always during working hours but it’s better to check what’s the official status (AIP and plates don’t specify tower).
Customs & immigration can be arranged if you’re arriving outside of EU or Schengen area.
All information is available in AIP at Eurocontrol site at link above or you can check directly with airport:

Thanks Emir, very useful information.
Note that if you’re circling to land, it is a very tight turn to avoid LOXN which is a grass field. The tower is super helpful, like everyone else there.
Are you maybe flying from Göteborg?

There is no tower frequency on the plate and also no control zone?
If you’re arriving IFR you’ll be coordinated by Vienna and they’ll switch you to AD frequency 122.65. I guess it’s similar for VFR arrival.
So it is A/G or possibly AFIS?
The AIP says it’s class G with no ATS unit, so I would expect that frequency to be purely self-announce:
No tower, then!
