Flight 9268 Sinai Crash

Not today?

;-) Well, I thought was only recounting the known facts, I did not say we KNOW what happened. But, yes, I do have a strong feeling towards the bombing. But actually, you are right: still too early.

PS: Yes, I leaned twd the bulkhead rupture too … until i saw that video of the burning plane falling … (and I do not not know, of course, if that is real)

The issue here is that the British public are fed what the government wants them to hear. A nation of SHEEPLE. The joint UK and US led administrations, since 2001, have let the world down badly, and have totally created the mess that is now the Middle East. This current situation is all A1 political, with the major players all positioning. You don’t hear much on the news, but Egypt is chaotic. I have good friends who had to leave Egypt. They speak of House arrest, night time disappearances, shootings. Not the cosy image of Sharm……..a million miles away from what is going on. Libya, when was that last reported? A total chaotic melting pot, a now broken society. Iraq, the same, Syria, well…..

This was another terrible incident. Women and kids coming back from holiday, truly terrible. But, it is the investigators, some time down the road, who determine what happened. Still a lot of talk about a bulkhead failure, triggered by a hydraulic rupture. That would make a bang also….

Fly safe. I want this thing to land l...

It makes little sense to to have an opinion before we have the facts. So let’s discuss this later.

The Egyptians:
- lied on the fist day when they released a statement that there was a mayday call from the plane
- almost (looks like) shot down another airliner with a rocket in August (not confirmed yet)
- have a strong interest in this NOT being a terrorist act

OTOH:
- there is a video, actually 2 videos, that show the explosion and the plane (obviously) descedning without its tail. Does not look fake to me
- there’s a clear indication on the CVR that there was an explosion

Sorry, but i would trust the NTSB, Airbus and independent specialists rather then the inexperienced Egyptians who might have a serious security flaw and a strong interest in proving it was not a bomb

Todays press conference by the Egyptians:

On Nov 7th 2015 Egypt’s Air Accident Investigation Commission (EAAIC) reported in a press conference, that:
– the wreckage is distributed over a length of more than 13km consistent with inflight breakup, several parts of the wreckage are missing.
– Initial observation of the wreckage does not yet allow to determine the cause of the inflight break up.
– The FDR was successfully downloaded, preliminary review of the data suggests the aircraft was airborne for 23 minutes 14 seconds, last altitude was 30,885 feet MSL, last recorded airspeed is 281 knots IAS.
– The CVR was successfully downloaded and a first listening was done, the transcript is being currently compiled, a noise was heard in the last second of the recording. Spectral analysis is trying to determine the nature of this noise.
– Parties reporting facts outside of the investgation should provide their evidence to the accident investigation commission

In other words, those who do handle the investigation are thankfully keeping their minds open. Others seem to rush to certain conclusions with the result of total chaos and quite probably a totally unnecessary publicity victory for IS. The goings on yesterday at SSH were a total disgrace. I am sure those responsible for those claims had themselfs a good glass of whatever they are drinking and were celebrating the results.

Personally I will believe this was a bomb once there is clear and unrefutable fact on the table. Before that, seeing the history of this airframe and it’s recent service record I will not set my chips on any wild theory just yet.

And btw, the sources who caused the whole panik were the same who are indirectly responsible for the existence of IS… The same secret services who had “unrefutable proof” of WMD’s in Iraq….. If those secret agents poke around and IS want to get credit for this crash then it is pretty easy to actually assume that what the agents will hear is exactly what they expect. My own suspicion is that whoever keeps the Sinai a no-go area saw the airplane fall and quickly thought of it as a chance to claim responsibility… without actually knowing how they supposedly “shot down .—— errr— brought down” that airplane.

Whatever it was, yesterday’s actionism was a total disgrace, a slap in the face of the Egyptians they don’t deserve and it did make a bad situation a whole lot worse.

… more and more reports say that a bomb is the most likely reason for the crash. I just read that there’s the “sound of an explosion” on the CVR … not good.

Interesting web site, thank you!

The tail is in several portions. The main part was about 2.2 km from the main wreckage, the APU and cone further and I have not seen any pics of the horizontal stab yet.

Important to know is that the whole wreckage is pretty much below and around the point of last radar contact. Which means the point of the last contact appears to have been the break up point as well.

you can check maps of the distribution of the parts here.

My first reaction to that repair was indeed that. Right now, I am not so sure anymore looking at some of the pics coming out of Egypt. One of them shows a pretty ugly smoke trace coming out of the airplane, which somehow doesn’t look like it started on the ground.

I saw this pic today.

While I don’t know where exactly this part is located, the smoke trail does definitly look as if it came from the inside and was not a ground fire. We don’t know really but this (and some others) start to worry me.

The airplane had a tailstrike in 2001… and the tail was found 8 km from the main crash site?

No, I am not into speculations … but that doesn’t sound good.

Yesterday evening Israeli TV showed a clip (mobile phone) of an aircraft at high altitude that suddenly starts to trail huge amount of black smoke while going down very fast.
