Thanks for the link, never thought about it.
I just read up on gyro precession and realized why precession is worst after 180° turns (in a 360 the force is cancelled out by the second 180). That explains why I had so much precession on my last flight where I did a couple holds (just VFR for fun) and precession was worse than in normal flight.
Main point is to avoid moving the aircraft on the ground until the gyros have fully run down…
