When is a flight plan not required for a border crossing?

No flight plan is required for VFR flights to or from a State within the Schengen area unless: a. the relevant state has a flight plan requirement for VFR flights

No sh*t Sherlock

I will join this organisation; it does sooo much for all of us in GA

Normally irony or sarcasm travels badly on the internet… but this one should work ok

But seriously, yes, if one reads back to the start of this thread, these concessions have always existed, and now we have a few more, but if you get it wrong, things can go very bad for you. All you need to do is some little diversion…

That must mean a general flight plan requirement for VFR flights. Is there any EU state that has that? Possibly Croatia, given their airspace structure.

Probably Greece too. IIRC, even for circuits. @petakas will know.

Schengen countries are Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden, as well as the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores

They clearly did not want to add Netherlands → Switzerland to that list?

They prefer to include Canary and Azores

Yes indeed, even for circuits in Greece they demand FPLs.
If there is no Tower (like ZZZZ fields etc.) Pilot is obliged to notify nearest ATC unit of Opening and Closing of FPL by phone call.

So that AOPA NL list is nonsense…

This is so funny… I especially like this islands part. Unfortunately they forgot Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily and Crete. And they totally forgot a few unimportant countries but who cares…
