Came across this blog from my other neighbourhood, supercub.org
I am not sure there is a European equivalent to the environment for pilots in AK.
Flying in Norway must be much like that. I have only flown there in summer though, and no off-airport flying.
Since you mention supercub.org…, there is (was?) a german guy there by the name of Ingo Brigmann. He is a dentist from Germany and used to do a lot of (summer) flying up there in the Arctic (mostly Canada, but also Alaska) in his highly modified Super Cub. A bit less than ten years ago, he produced a series of (german language) DVDs, documenting some of his spectacular trips. Some of the best stuff out there…
Boscomantico
I think this might be the gentleman?

Yep, you found him.
That thread is about his fourth big trip, from Fairbanks all the way to the Atlantic.
BTW, somewhere in Quebec, he groundlooped the Super Cub (and caught it on film!) when attempting a landing in a soft, swampy meadow, which led to an interruption of a couple of weeks. Nicely documented in the video. Interesting that he omitted this “detail” in the thread…
After that one, he was supposed to do a DVD about a flight through Alaska (Aleutians…) but I understood he had a run of bad luck and things are lagging a bit behind…
This is my favourite ALASKAN Cub Pilot on the internet, look at that cool landing (and search for his other clips!)
That really is STOL
