I am organizing Socata TB “Carribean” family Fly-In in Hungarian Pecs. This post is to provide information about the event to the TB owners who are not registered or not active at socata.org forum.
2015 European Flyin

Pécs (also known as Sopianæ, Quinque Basilicae, Quinque Ecclesiae, German Fünfkirchen or Slovak Päťkostolie) is the fifth largest city in Hungary, located on the slopes of Mecsek mountains in the southwest of the country, close to its border with Croatia (30km). It is the administrative and economical centre of Baranya county.
In 2010 Pécs was selected to be the European Capital of Culture sharing the title together with Essen and Istanbul. The city’s motto is: “The Borderless City”. After receiving the title major renewal started in the city. Renewed public places, streets, squares and neighbourhoods, new cultural centers, a concert hall, a new library and center and a cultural quarter were designed.
Airfield:
Pécs/Pogany / LHPP is an IFR-equipped field with one ILS and one NDB approach. The hard paved runway is 1.500m long. LHPP is about 8km from the town center of Pécs.
Pécs/Pogany is recently renovated modern small airport, very well equipped, with a friendly, English speaking staff. It serves mainly as a local centre for air ambulance, few private and training flights and as a base for small, mainly glider “aeroclub”. Otherwise there is very little traffic. Avgas (and JET A1) is available at the airport.

Program:
Thursday, 4th June 2015 (first arrivals from noon) till Sunday, 7th June 2015 (official end of Fly-In after breakfast and transfer to airfield)
Program details will be decided once we have a better idea about the number of participants and their arrival times. Activities could include
• Guided tour of Pécs
• Individual sight-seeing and visit to museums in Pécs
• Visit to Siklos thermal spa, (do not forget your swimming suit, flip-flops and towel)
• Group dinner and / or BBQ at the airfield
• Wine tasting at the Bock winery (interesting blog post about Bock wines here: Link)
Accommodations:
The preferred hotel for the event is Makár Hotel Pécs, which is sport and wellness hotel, 2,2km from the historical city centre, with its own restaurant, sport and wellness facilities and two group of rooms (4+ star and 3+ star), which should satisfy both demanding and budget travelers. Please do sign up early so that Irene and myself can get an idea on the number of participants as this would help greatly in our further planning.
Cost: Accommodation arrangements will be directly between individual participants and the hotel. Cost for other incidentals (e.g. ground transport in case we need a bus, guided tours, BBQ) will be shared between participants. We will ask for a payment to cover those prior to the Fly-In.
