BERLIN - August 31

Ok, to set the right mood for this, here’s my favorite satirical article about the never-ending story of Berlin’s catastrophic airport project (in German):

http://www.der-postillon.com/2012/08/neue-zeitform-futur-iii-eingefuhrt-um.html

The article suggests the introduction of an additional future tense “Futur III” to the German language, to enable discussing actions that would be completed in the future (as in Futur II) but will actually most likely not be completed at all.

On a more serious note, the airport is organizing a GA Fly In on August 30 and 31 (Saturday is already fully booked).

Anyone planning to be there?

Oops – I just realized it is now fully booked on both days. :-(

… but that’s not too bad, those interested were informed a good while ago…

On the microlight forum where I learned about it, there were dire warnings about some draconian measures, see below. Can’t really call it a Fly-In, under such conditions. Several participants did book nevertheless.

  • no overnight parking, let alone camping under the wing
  • no refuelling nor maintenance allowed
  • if unable to fly out as planned, better move your plane out on a trailer
  • the fee (to some charity) is not refundable if the flight is cancelled

I missed that thread, Jan – sorry for the double posting…

No problem – better twice than not at all!
