TAF not yet valid

This is current for EGKA:

Metar
EGKA 111120Z 02007KT 9000 SCT018 14/10 Q1006
TAF
EGKA 111059Z 1112/1119 04010KT 9999 SCT020 BECMG 1112/1114 13010KT 9999 SCT010 PROB30 TEMPO 1112/1114 4000 BR BKN005

and I get that from two sites, one of which gets it from ADDS and the other gets it from Eurocontrol.

Now I have a third site which I believe also gets it from Eurocontrol and it shows this, which is correct but I wonder if there is some convention which supports this presentation? That “not yet valid” TAF will become valid 5 mins from now.

The “not yet valid” TAF was issued 61 minutes before its start of validity. So to get a forecast for that hour you have to look at the previously issued TAF. The presentation on your “third web site” makes sense.

I realise it is correct but I have never before seen such a warning.

In fact I am not sure I have previously seen a taf which was not yet valid.

SkyDemon shows the new TAF as soon as it is issued, so right now it shows a “not yet valid” TAF for EGKA.

(I would have tried Autorouter but it is down right now.)

I am a bit confused about your last example: How could you have the 1120Z METAR if the 1059Z TAF was becoming valid in 5 minutes. According to your data I assume it was 1054Z at the time of getting TAF and METAR. Hence I would scratch my head about the METAR from the future. ;-)

I take it the “now” refers to when Peter was writing his posting, not to the issue time of the TAF.

@Airborne_Again, I agree, but I am not talking about the TAF time, but the METAR time. But reading it again, there might be the other interpretation, that it was 5 minutes before 12z (Before the 7 hour validity group) and that makes more sense, looking at it from distance.
