I was wondering if anyone has seen or has any experiences of this engine in the field particularly related to fuel consumption.
Up to 20% better at altitude where the crude automatic mixture control of the carbureted Rotax doesn't work well. No significant difference at "normal" altitudes where Rotaxes usually spend their time.
All in all, I find the 912iS to be quite a disappointment. It's more expensive, heavier (!) and produces the same horsepower as the carbureted version. They could at least have added 15hp or so.
and I can't help wondering to what degree Mr. Bertorelli's comments are based on personal experience, as was (to good reason) asked for.
