Portoroz LJPZ (Piran) Meet-up 5-7 Sep 2015

The problem I had was that ATC rattle off the taxi instructions very fast, and if you aren’t used to the accent then it can be hard to follow.

So just like me you probably have English Language proficiency level 5, right?

LGAV ATC’s ELP level would be more doubtful.

Unless Peter’s status of “native” were questioned, he must be entitled to level 6 anyway.

(not underestimating the ;) value , of course)

I got Level 6 signed off at the JAA IR initial test. But I m not good with accents.

I don’t think ATC ELP is too relevant for airliners because they know what’s coming next anyway.

I got Level 6 signed off at the JAA IR initial test. But I m not good with accents.

As a learning exercise you can try to imitate the accents on the radio. It’s great fun

So when checking in on Split Radar it is: Dobar Dan N113AC Vlait Level One One Zèrooo.

In Austria and Southern Germany you use “Serfus”. “Ciao” in Italy, etc.

Of course I never doubted that, obviously But it would be fun to have you benchmark on of those french DGAC English LP exams. They run tapes with pilots speaking with ineligible accents, and poor audio quality, and ask you to transcribe (parts of) the conversations on paper. That’s not testing language proficiency, but cryptography.

Under the same conditions I am sure I would not get a 6 in neither French or Norwegian.

I am glad you made Brac, lenthamen. It’s a super place (not cheap, at about €90 and that’s after the 50% AOPA discount).

A super location indeed! Everybody super friendly. We enjoyed it very much.
We also had a fantastic dinner with Bart and his family.

We paid 44,69€ total at LDSB. That was for two nights.

The famous beach:

Dinner with our friends from Poland who flew in with a DA42:

Paliohora on Milos is highly recommended

Great swimming and lots of colours. Food is ok too

Just managed to get the 48hr PPR from LGKR for two possible dates…

I will do the adventure of Peter in LGAV today. I am curious.

Today I will fly to Zakynthos, but with a stop in Megara in between. Had a nice Day at LGTT yesterday. Aopa Greece did really good work and the organisation was perfect.

I had a few problem before leaving belgium, but Aopa was really helping me out. Great job!

Also many thanks to Petakas for all the information before here and via mail the corrected lists for handling. It’s a pity I Didn’t meet him at the show yesterday.

Glad it worked out for you, Vieke. I was going to be there too, at the first part of the Tatoi show, but it got cancelled, and I could not re-plan due to the EuroGA fly-in dates, so we did Milos a bit earlier instead. Departing to Skiathos shortly…

The airport timetables are mind boggling. Up before sunrise this morning, to hit the Monday 0630-0800 arrival time slot.

Does anyone know the purpose of this narrow time slot

Greek airports which open for just one flight are normally open 1hr before and 1hr after i.e. a 2hr slot.

I would actually like to use it to depart for Corsica on the 17th but it is a very “uncivilised” time to be getting out of bed, especially for a long flight.

That’s really cheap – last time I was there I paid 130€ and it was day trip – came in the morning and left in the evening.

BTW I was at LJPZ this weekend again; the trip was organized by friend of mine and it included night in 5-star hotel, visit to casino with dinner, all expenses generously covered by him for four of us in exchange for his first flight in GA aircraft.
