I have flown in Spain for many years and losing ATC coverage at GA altitudes is normal. It’s a combination of terrain and the way the ATC infrastructure is set up. Sometimes ATC warn you about it, sometimes not. I recall using CAT a few times for relay.
Btw the same happens over the deserts of the American SW. Main difference is that ATC here always alert you and typically give you a new frequency to call after xx track miles.

That’s the only problem with the RV-8 – gets a little wonky as we approach 0.8 c …
Interesting question, does MTOW refer to rest mass or inertial mass?
A problem at 0.8c, where (E over c squared) is 5/3 of rest mass … ?

The problem might be also be speed induced
