Unheard of: seaplane flying in Belgium!?

1 Post

According to a recent press release* (in minority language only) a Beech 18 was acquired by an attraction park and is due to land on a nearby lake anytime now. This is quite surprising, as the official reading has always been that there are no provisions in Belgian air law for operating aeroplanes from/onto water surfaces; making the powers that be unable to allow any such.

But kudos to anyone who spent the (largish, I should think) effort and budget to acquire the plane and to ferry it across the Atlantic and to get its “watering” approved – I can’t help wondering wether some kind of support from a political corner might have helped for the last item.

Above all: let us hope the plane is kept flying and not be doomed to spend its last days rotting away floating on a smallish pond.
In the best of cases, this might be the beginning of a seaplane tradition in Belgium.
