New technology converts waste plastics to jet fuel in an hour

Guess that does indeed qualify as a “good PET collecting system”

From what I’ve seen in some “investigative TV show” quite a high fraction of this went directly to China. Irrespective whether there was “Pfand” on it or not. Transportation on the ship is/was cheap, as they load the other way. However, China doesn’t seem to accept plastics any more. I’m not well into these details, but I don’t think that it may be simplified just like that. Waste is a big issue and so far the solutions to plastic are either to burn it up or to bury it somewhere. There is development.

E.g. converting plastic into jet fuel by using wind power sounds quite interesting. You can react on the amount of available wind energy by increasing/decreasing production rate. By not storing or converting the electrical power, but using it directly, you gain a lot, in the order of 50 to 90% more out of the wind turbine.

That’s correct and it is creating a global problem. If China actually recycled the stuff or simply dumped in in the nearest river is, however, open to debate….
