Backpacker – I couldnt agree more. I am always amazed people going anywhere “serious” without a ’phone call first. You would have thought we didnt have mobiles these days. It is so easy and you usually get some useful information as well if you ask the right questions. I am also amazed when people dont use the radio in these circumstances. After all where AT is willing and able to get on the land line for you why wouldnt you get them to “have a word” with your destination for whatever reason(s) you have in mind.

Yep, the only time I have ever attracted some ermm attention was in France for exactly this reason.
