That’s a superb paper – thanks for posting it.

Some interesting snippets…

That is more or less what I would expect, but some private pilots massively downplay the icing issue.


I also wonder whether the reports of icing at temperatures lower than those at which we might expect it to be a problem is due to flight in convective cloud? They don’t appear to consider that.

It’s indeed interesting reading …the A-10’s don’t have de-icing even not the engine nacelles..which I found quite surprising….
It better be cold enough when flying in January -15 or so… anyway there are so many parameters involved that it looks like almost impossible to have exact data…

Now where is this super phobic product that we can put on our airframes for at least have an escape path when it happens….
