Heard of a Danish pilot who experienced a similar situation on an ILS approach. Not sure if it is the exact same problem but the unit seemed to do a reset on its own.
Sounds like a software bug that makes the whole unit do a reset because of some unrecoverable condition.
This morning they seem to be blaming FIS-B more that ADS-B itself.
Does FIS exist outside the US?
Google suggests it runs over 978 MHz (UAT), so the above post about a Danish pilot would appear to exclude that.
There is a FIS-B trial in England.
Should not be applicable to too many installations in Europe then..
This product line seems to have had more than its fair share of crises. One owner sent me 3 or 4 photos showing a big cross on the display, and these happened mostly in IMC They have got better in recent years, although one UK installer told me the EA100 adaptor has failed a lot.
Last I heard is that Aspen have produced a directive (which is likely to become an AD) requiring the disabling of ADS-B IN data.
Which would be a wonderful joke for me.
I have been berating and lambasting Avidyne for over four years to deliver the ADS-B In they promised as a free upgrade and I take delivery….
….today (I am on the train to Lee to pick it up.)
And when do I get told I need to switch off ADS-B In?
….today.
You couldn’t make it up.
Do you have an Aspen box as well?
Um, yes.
