Amusement parks with good accessibility by plane

When I started flying with my family a year ago flying itself was enough of a reason for the kids to come flying with me. A year later the price I need to pay to persuade my children into joining me on a flying trip is starting to get higher. Last year we visited the Legoland in Günzburg and landed at EDMG, a busy little gras field. From there it is less than 15 minutes by taxi to Legoland. Now I’m looking for similar ideas for this summer. Maybe this thread will evolve into nice little list of destinations.

For starters, I will add some more destinations:

  • (obviously) the original Legoland at Billund EKBI
  • Hodenhagen EDWV with the Serengeti Park under its downwind leg and the Heidepark not too far away.

Also, this Good airport for Disneyland Paris? is related.

A lot depends on what your kids call an amusement park.
Eg Futuroscope at Poitiers LFBI or the Puy de Fou near Cholet LFOU
Buy many airfields in France have amusement parks nearby. Even Fontenay le Comte, LFFK, a small town by normal standards has Parc Pierre Brun a stone’s throw away, plus an indoor electric go karting track and an auto circuit where cars and bikes can be tested, or one can train to drive the smaller formula racing cars, or do a few circuits with a driver in a Porsche, Lambourgine, Ferrari etc.
Parc Asterix is IIRC, not that far from an airfield but I don’t have the details with me at present.

There is an airfield at LE PLESSIS-BELLEVILLE, LFPP. It is 10 km from Parc Asterix. Apparently quite nice and easy to use, but VFR only and French RT. Train station as well as car rentals available at the village of the same name. There is also another entertainment parc nearby called “La mer de sable

Apparently Cirrus has a distributor there, otherwise I could not find a website for the airfield, but there are also some Aeroclubs.

@boscomantico might know more about it, as he has posted a pirep at eddh.de a few years ago.

(in German)

Looks like a nice place.

Yes for Parc Astérix, Plessis-Bellville LFPP or Persan-Beaumont LFPA, it’s easier ride if you go to CDG by airliners

LeTouquet has AquaPark but it’s planned for closure this year or next one…

You can walk from the GA terminal at EKBI to LEGO Land. Landing fee 100 DKK (13,50 €)

On a smaller scale, Sandown on the Isle of Wight has the following easily accessible by bus from Bembridge EGHJ or Sandown EGHN

EGHO-LFQF-KCLW, United Kingdom

I flew to visit Europa Park last summer from Freiburg EDTF. Great field with a great park. Highly recommended.

EHRD, Netherlands

EDNY Friedrichshafen would be the choice for visiting Ravensburger Spieleland, which is 8km or ~10min by car. That’s rather something for younger kids, maybe around 5 to 8yrs or so, without ambition for wild rollercoaster-rides.

LSZF Birrfeld, LFSB Basel-Mulhouse, Switzerland

Holiday Park, Haßloch: https://www.holidaypark.de/de

Either via EDRL, Lachen Speyerdorf

Or via EDRY, Speyer

Both about 15 minutes by car.

Speyer also has the Technikmuseum, if so inclined, in Neustadt I can highly recommend https://www.von-winning.de/de/leopold-restaurant for diner, if you stay overnight. If needed I can also provide a lot more recommendations – I grew up there and I used to skydive in EDRL, but that was 30 years ago.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is about 15 minutes walk from EGNH/Blackpool.
