Putting aside some of the things I don't like about PPrune, there is a feature that I do like.
That is that it remembers what I have read, highlights threads with new posts, and has a button to jump to the first unread post.
I don't know how it's done (cookies or forum server software?) but I like it.
Thanks for the feedback Neil.
It's a feature we're considering. The downside is that it uses a lot more server resources, since it needs to keep track of every view of every user of every thread. So whilst no means impossible, it comes at a certain "cost".

OK, I understand, there are always balances to be sought. In my opinion it's not an essential feature, but as I said, I like it. On the other hand I like the absence of advertising even more, so if it was an either/or choice I would keep the site free of the commercials.
I congratulate you on what you have achieved already. My points are not intended to be criticisms, just suggestions, and I hope the forum continues to grow.
Neil, thanks - all feedback is gratefully received. We might not implement every suggestion, but that doesn't mean we don't want to hear them.

Whilst I was talking about server resources for this particular feature it's not really a question of server costs in monetary terms. Our biggest monetary cost with this feature would be the development cost!
