The grass parking is right opposite my hangar (where I am now). It has recently been mown and is about as good as grass gets. I’ll post photos when I get home.
I think they mow it once a year, probably in July before the high season starts. That’s why it is so terrible in spring and early summer.
In any case, be wary of concrete and other objects hidden in the grass.

That is good news. Is that ‘M’ or ‘G’ ? If you are around on Saturday Aug 3rd around 0830Z or 1615Z then happy to say hi. We will be short of time but always happy to greet a fellow EuroGAer! Same for @greg_mp or any other local forumites

They also cut it early May (before GrandPrix & Festival?), obviously, it’s jungle in April and likely not usuable between Oct-Mar
Having huge grass parking (e.g. LaRochelle, Cannes…) on first come basis with separate GA door is way better than “paved parking only” which is the policy choice in many other IFR airports, including for aircraft under 2T weight and 12m wingspan
Then you add: parking ppr, handling, no out of hours, security, cime, airline gate and scanner…and it becomes a lovely place to visit !
Here are the pictures I took this morning. The first one is Mike, the second Golf. The grass is just an inch or so high, apart from a few tiny clumps which I guess were under aircraft when the mower passed. Note G-MOFO parked on Golf – wonder who that is?
Looking much better than the last time I was there. Thx for posting!
That grass doesn’t look bad in the photos.
I had a very bad experience with a “simple” refuelling at LFMD a few years ago and haven’t been there since. I wrote about it previously. In S of France I would much rather use e.g. Beziers (Montpellier used to be good but now is a totally bizzarre 3 days PN!!).
As Greg wrote a while back the pumps are now in English and work fine. There are two, one for BP card only and the other for regular credit/debit card only. Only problem (for me anyway) is that I get a fairly low limit for the latter (€150). I think the problem is with my card not the pump, but it can be a problem.
IFR is a pain in the summer – it is “coordinated” which means you need a myhandling slot for both arrival and departure. I use no services at all, just taxi to/from the hangar, but it is still mandatory. Sometimes they charge €64, sometimes they don’t.
French credit or debit card @johnh?
Yes they are a PITA for their low spending one day limits. You can actually get it raised but you have to go to the bank and then often you are faced with a jobs worth who thinks it’s not your money it’s theirs.🤪
Best to get one of the cards from someone like Revolut or Travelwise.
Yes, French card. The limit only applies to fuel – I have a monthly limit which I can increase when I need to. It might be possible to increase the fuel limit, but since I have both Total and BP cards it’s rarely an issue.
