And this is a “business jet airport”. How is that supposed to work?

Substitution as needed, plus you almost never use the procedural ILS, always radar-vectored for the approaches
Please also note that the standard noise abaitment procedure requires VOR/DME. :)

Re: RNP – they’ve tried and were shot down by the CAA – I think the reason was that Biggin has decided to save money and not have some NATS radar training. :)

Its only 5 hours though?

Southend will get more traffic, if the weather is not great on that day! :)

C5922/23 is for the Runway Visual Range sensor only

Looks like Biggin Hill may finally be getting an RNP approach to 03 next year as well as an RNP overlay for 21 procedure. However, it does look like RNP 03 may contain a radius to fix leg (presumably to avoid Gatwick’s airspace), making it pretty much unusable for most of light GA.

What’s wrong with RTF? All new Garmins are supposed to support it. Avidyne also were promising to support those…

If the installer enables it… Some say they lack the paperwork, not in the STC for that particular plane, …

I am pretty sure a significant percentage of GA fleet is not RF capable. Also, I think I read somewhere that you need special certification for RF even if your avionics support it (but can’t find this now).

Here is the approach that is proposed: https://airspacechange.caa.co.uk/documents/download/6589
