In years past we did two “main” fly-ins: May and September.
The May one didn’t happen this year and probably won’t. Not sure why. Croatia was tried in late April, with a mailshot etc and zero interest. Currently, much of Europe has poor wx and people are probably not interested in going anywhere. Covid knocked a lot of GA “doers” out, too.
We could still do something in late May, or June. After that, things rarely happen due to family pressures, schools off, etc.
Then we have September. We have LECD planned for the end of September. Spain is normally a good destination for that time of the year. But another one could be done elsewhere in Europe in early Sep.
Any interest?
I’m interested for sure, and now I finally have my EASA IR I might even be able to fly there. But unfortunately I can’t promise anything – “it all depends”.
Well, a look at my agenda shows quite a few fly-ins planned, starting a fortnight from now… but depending when and where, I’m always open for an excuse to leave the good ol‘ Planet.
Re a 2nd fly-in in September, highly skeptical… one fly-in a year is good, two short of a miracle, and now, you’re talking about 2 in the same month?
Yes, good idea. We will be in France from next week on until June. Depending on the destination we are interested.
I have (not vey solid) plans to go to https://www.franceairexpo.com/en/ from Jun 1st to 3rd.
Maybe seeing the show on Saturday, and spending Sunday on nearby Annecy.
Edit: If anybody remembers those ancient times, before a certain irrational fear gripped the world, there was a plan for a fly-in in Annecy:

I could be interested in this, having missed Aero Friedrichshafen due to my annual inspection.

It would be interesting to visit it and compare it with Friedrichshafen expo, which I feel has become quite diversified (jets, drones, etc).
I believe France is quite good for a meetup. A lot of airfields offer less hassle and more facilities at a very reasonable cost (Colmar, Montpelier, etc.).

Sorry to disappoint, it’s a nice airshow and was hassle free in the past but suddenly in last two years they decided to ban arrivals by air using own aircraft (unless you are using it for display), you go by train, by car or by drone !
In France, it’s hard to fly to fairshows or airshows (I did it few times: loads of paperwork and 3 digits costs, I am not bothering anymore now), if you want more fun, this goes even further, there was a “journée porte ouvertes” (“open days”) in one airfield where they banned visitors by air, they wanted local residents to join the local school…I also got caught in one of these NOTAMS/TRA, I managed to get permission to depart after begging for one day (LaBaule airspace was temporarily closed for Patrouille De France and I was not there for the airshow just stuck two extra days)
Other than this most French airfields & airports are hassle free, they are heavens when nothing is organised
Texel, Friedrichshafen, Duxford, Old Warden…have different logic to fly-in while they are running events

Thanks for providing some local knowledge Ibra. Last year, I remember this event banned VFR arrivals for some reason. This year, the site claims you can fly-in and that slots will be available on the 20th.

By private aircraft
Like every year, it is possible to come to the exhibition by private aircraft.
Slot reservation will be online from May 20th 2023.

I can try asking, they were quite responsive last year.
Great if they allow visitors by air this year, I am planning trip to Switzerland that weekend, it will be an ideal stop for Friday June 2nd
