I was surprised not to find such a thread so here it is.
The pinciple is : post the map of all the destinations you want to visit by GA once in your life and still haven’t.
Mine is :
That would be it for me.
Iceland
Greenland
Shetland Islands
Norway
Svalbard
North cape
I’m probably unusual in that they are all due north to colder, less densely populated places :)
Hey good thread, keep it coming! I’m always looking for ideas.
EuroGA made me go to so lovely places that were so easy to approach due to all the information that is found here that it’s always very interesting to see more. The ICAO codes of the specific airfields would also be a good point.
That made me find some older threads here about places to go with kids…good read…could also fit into a map…
What is the tool used to draw those?
Great circle mapper:
http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=EGGD%2CLFQR by example
Great Circle Mapper – a very nice mapping tool.
The command language is easy:
LKPR, EDDB, EHAM
will show just the airports, whereas
LKPR-EDDB-EHAM
will show the great circle route from Prague to Amsterdam via Berlin, and
550nm@LKPR
will show the 550 nm range circle around Prague.
You can use any mixture of ICAO and IATA codes as input. Once the map is displayed, use the menus at the bottom of the page to adjust the style: colours, airport dot size, label font size, label type (ICAO code/IATA code/city name/airport name), distance units (kilometers/nautical miles/statute miles), etc.
Got it! These are mine, and some of them from the “fifth of never” category…
Great, keep them coming !
I was a bit realistic, and skipped Greenland, North Cape and a couple others. It is more my next-10-year destination list.
I could post my map here… but then I’d have to kill ya
