My soul is in a hurry

The Valuable Time of Maturity
A poem written more than 80 years ago but still relevant, especially for me as I am 65 years old.
Think about it!

Very nice, thanks for posting Nuccio.

Maybe we should start a thread for ‘aviation poems’.

Here’s a contribution from a Dutch poet called Bert Schiebeek. The translation is mine and the rhyme and beauty probably gets lost a bit. I hope I don’t get banned on this forum for posting something not typically alpha-male style

‘We replicate the bird..
and fly with it..
because although we are born with feet full of lead..
our head is filled with birds.

If you are interested in aviation poetry, I received a gift of a book titled Give me the Wings, by Martin Barraclough. A nice tome from a pretty interesting guy, I have read all about him in the Royal Air Squadron book, Far Horizons. He famously restored the very well-known Percival Mew Gull, G-AEXF.

Many thanks Nuccio for sharing with us

I remembered this one:

Flight is freedom in its purest form,
To dance with the clouds which follow a storm;

To roll and glide, to wheel and spin,
To feel the joy that swells within;

To leave the earth with its troubles and fly,
And know the warmth of a clear spring sky;

Then back to earth at the end of a day,
Released from the tensions which melted away;

Should my end come while I am in flight,
Whether brightest day or darkest night;

Spare me your pity and shrug off the pain,
Secure in the Knowledge that I’d do it again;

For each of us is created to die,
And within me I know,
I was born to fly.
