Typical greasy spoon southern UK airfield. Two men in matching flight suits covered in badges talking very loudly about their achievements. You automatically assume they’re combat veterans, fly for BA during the week, do warbird air displays at the weekend. They’re later spotted clambering clumsily into a dirtbag C152.

The sh#tload of money it all takes… The others are just minor inconveniences

I agree that this is the number one issue. When you break it down, flying GA is just a specific way to use a vehicle with a simple, normally outdated internal combustion engine (obviously excluding turbine aircraft). Why that would be several times more expensive than using other ICE-driven vehicles is not straightforward and easily acceptable.

At least it is a plane, not a car ;-) And there ain’t nothing wrong with a clapped out C152, they can be loads of good slow fun!

I will start with wearing a yellow jacket while eating lunch at Le Touquet.

What’s the score with that? I’ve been to the restaurant at Le Touqet many times, and never had to wear a yellow jacket!? What happened to you?

It’s not mandatory

It is seeing UK pilots wearing them walking down the street and then wearing them while eating their lunch.

1) Waiting for the Avgas bowser to arrive. Seeing the truck approach and realising it’s a JET A1 bowser. Then having to trek back to the offices because the refueller cannot get the card payment terminal to connect out on the apron.

2) Mandatory handling where the service provided is wildly disproportionate to the price charged.

3) AENA airports.
