Xenos motorglider with a full electric propulsion kit

An industrial quality belt probably will outlive the pilot/builder. Besides, they are easy to replace.

What is the life of that rubber belt?

Just to be clear. What Sonex and FLIT has done is for anyone who feels the urge to mess around with electric propulsion on their own, to do exactly that without having to reinvent the wheel or “revolutionise aviation”, or electric propulsion for that matter. They can do this using off the shelf motor/motor controller and an off the shelves (true and trusted) Xenos motorglider.

Obviously this is not for everyone, but lots of people would like to get into this. Which is the reason Sonex is offering this kit, there is a demand for it.

In addition, Paul Due, the editor of Kitplanes and owner/builder of a Subsonex jet, is building an eXenos with his wife. I’m sure he will go into every detail about this build as well as every detail about operating this plane.

I think this is super cool

Or simply Sonex backwards

1 h is not bad in a motorglider. Gliders themselves have 0 endurance, yet they fly large distances. Must be some revolutionary magic endurance enhancer somewhere lurking

Xenos means ´foreign’ or ‘strange’. Anyone know what these ‘xenos’ signs on the fuselage mean? Given the endurance it regretfully does not mean that they have found some revolutionary battery..

Sonex is pleased to announce that motor/battery mounts are now available to order for the Xenos Motorglider Zaero Electric Propulsion package!

Here.
