Does anyone have any advice on finding a FAA A&P or A&P/IA in Europe, specifically Denmark? Any help would be appreciated.
Use this website and search on country Denmark and select Airframe and Powerplant. An IA will have these ratings. One of the A&P is likely to be an IA or knows of one..
Nice database YCYankee, never saw that one before, unfortunantly, IAs are not listed.
The biggest problem with that list is the vast majority are NOT in GA and tend to be commercial line mechanics
Slowjunk – , I know of 3 or 4 GA mechanics A&P/IAs in Scandinavia, PM sent !
They may not be identified as IA, but an IA must have those ratings, So it is a starting point. Regardless of who they work for or what they do in their day job, they still must be rated. This database is from the FAA records of who is rated.
When I check the boxes for Airframe and Power plant mechanics and then do the search I get a mix of all the certificates (pilots, mechanics, etc.). It does not seem to only filter on the check boxes.
Here is what I got when I checked: mechanic certificate ; airframe rating; and Powerplant rating:

This database is not at all reliable because :
- It’s not up-dated and there is no renewal process for A&Ps – I’ll bet more than half are retired !
- The other half zare either no longer in aviation or have never had anything to do with GA
To my knowledge, there is not a single A&P/IA that is active in GA in Denmark. There are 1 or 2 in Sweden and Norway, but that’s about it.
There are many A&Ps in the UK who are available for GA work.
There are fewer A&P/IAs in the UK who are available for GA work. One of them does my plane with me, but he has an airline maintenance job, 4 days on, 4 days off. The IA aspect (as in turning up at the end of an Annual and signing it off) is nowadays treated with extra caution because a few IAs have been busted by the FAA for signing off dodgy work, so the IA needs to be very sure the job has been done properly. I know of only a few and I doubt any would travel to Denmark, but who knows? I know one (no longer active) who used to travel to Greece.
Doesn’t Germany have a big N-reg scene?

Yeah and the IA’s over there get Big N-reg fees !
My personal limits: I will only pay high fees if the guy wears a Lab coat, either his own or one borrowed from a Mercedes dealer shop.
