Keeping IR(r) (IMC) rating and IR

Quick question…can these ratings run in parallel to each other? I.e. can you have both on your license concurrently?

Could be useful if my IR is SE only and I want to fly multiengine in UK airspace without doing a flight test?

Yes you can, and right now if you haven’t got PBN on your IR you can in theory just use your IR(R) and crack on as there hasnt been any PBN requirements issued for the IR(R)!

I have had both the IMCR and the IR on my CAA paperwork for years. The examiner just signed off everything he was allowed to. The advantage is that the IMCR is valid for 25 months whereas the IR for just 12 months.

The only thing to watch is that the IR(R) test schedule requires a bad weather circuit to land so you need to make Examiner aware beforehand so that can be included
